On June 9th, McDermott Cue sponsored professional trick shot artist Jason "The Michigan Kid" Lynch's mission trip to Nairobi, Kenya. He performed alongside Steve Lillis, President and Founder of the Gospel Trick Shots Ministries, Inc (GTS). Jason stayed at the East Africa School of Theology (EAST), which is affiliated with the Kenya Assembly of God Church.
On his mission, Jason interacted with the teenagers of Kenya sharing the GTS vision and participating in discussions. He offered training in the art of pool table assembly, along with seminars about sports ministry and effective leadership. Students were taught the fundamentals of pool and various trick shots.
Steve and Jason represented the "Sport for Good" campaign, where their goal is to place more pool tables in positive environments. They believe that a growing interest in organized billiards will help build character in the youth of Kenya. Jason performed before the final round of matches at the Kenya College Championships in front of over 100 students from various colleges in Kenya.
Additionally, Steve and Jason are working with Peter Hawley, President of the All African Pool Association (AAPA). Peter is also the Vice President of the World Pool and Billiard Association (WPA). The WPA is the governing body of billiards in the world. Steve and Jason have been chosen as the WPA ambassadors for Kenya, which is yet to join the AAPA and WPA.
Jason and Steve presented EAST with billiards equipment to continue the growth of the pool ministry. The kit consisted of:

• Gospel Trick Shot Ministries, Inc. training DVD's
• BCA Rulebook / instructional booklets
• BCA tournament bracket charts
• Tools to assemble the Thomas Aaron Pool Table
A partial scholarship fund is being setup to support EAST. Money from this fund has helped build new floors and walls in main classroom, a new kitchen, along with two new roofs on the adjoining classrooms.
Jason prayed with and for the children of the church before heading back to the USA on Friday, June 18th. He returned to the USA with a passion to continue his mission work with Kenya.
We feel there is great opportunity to use billiards and ministry to reach the young people of Kenya. McDermott has created a special cue to symbolize this effort. It is a tribute to the mission work done by Jason and Steve. The cue is being featured as our August Cue of the Month. For every cue sold, $10 will be donated to the people of Kenya for educational support and equipment.
